The lyrical Prelude from the Preludio y Danza no. 5 (dedicated to Maria Isabel Siewers) is a much more extended affair, ranging over six pages in total and features the typical South American style of amalgamating the time signatures of 6/8 and 3/4 (hemiola) to obtain the desired effect. This time the Danza is in the style of a very animated Polka and very nice it is too. The contrasting sections of lively hemiola surrounding lengthy passages of block chords and then extended scale passages provide a composition full of excitement and interest.
The standard of presentation (...) is very good and the works would suit a grade 7 player.
