VACHEZ, Sébastien (France)

Sébastien Vachez was born in France in 1973. His father took charge of his first musical steps when he was four years old. Three years later he is enrolled in the "Conservatoire National" in his native Troyes. His first guitar instructor was Jean-Pierre Chauvineau. Pierre Goliot followed up the remaining years of his musical apprenticeship there, culminating with the professional diploma. At the same time Sébastien studied the important complementary musical disciplines such as harmony, musical analysis, chamber music, etc.

Afterwards he carried on his musical studies in Paris with Vladimir Mikulka and Gérard Verba. During the same period Vachez took part in master classes with wellknown guitarists such as Roland Dyens, Roberto Aussel, Arnaud Dumond, Tania Chagnot, Pablo Marquez, Aniello Desiderio, and others.

Sébastien is laureat of numerous awards and honours such as UFAM and "Île-de-France" competitions as well as the "Prix de la ville de Paris", the "Prix Geneviève et Jacque Dupont" in France and the Esztergom International Competition in Hungary. His victory in the international Guitar Competition in Krakow (Poland) confirmed the opinion of critics and public alike as one of the most promising young french guitarists.

Sébastien Vachez is currently leading a career as a concertist, composer, arranger and teacher, and he is certainly no stranger to the platform of international festivals having performed at "Rencontres de la Guitare d'Antony" (Paris), "Silesian Guitar Autumn" in Tychy and Krynica Festival (Poland), "Cahiers de la Guitare" festival in Musicora (Paris) and others. In France as well as abroad, he regularly played solo recitals, concerts within the "Couleurs Tango" trio and with a string orchestra as a soloist. As a teacher, he also appeared in masterclasses and in guitar orchestra workshops.
