Jean-Jacques Fimbel

Jean-Jacques Fimbel perfected his art under Antonio Membrado, Betho Davezac (with whom he studied the baroque and romantic guitar, as well as the vihuela repertoire) and Alberto Ponce at the École Normale de Musique de Paris, where he obtained diplomas in Guitar, Music History, Analysis and Composition. Aptitude Certificat holder, he teaches at the National School of Music in Mulhouse. In recent years, he has assumed the role of Pedagogical Guidance Counsellor in the east of France, at the Cefedem of Bourgogne and Lorraine.
J.J. Fimbel is also composer and arranger (Homage to King Crimson, 4 “Cine club”, 5 “Macropieces” and 4 “Amusettes”).
Since 2006, he has been Artistic Director of the “International Guitar Week of Colmar” alongside Roland Dyens, where he gives masterclasses and recitals.
He has recorded solo, duo, chamber music CDs, and has taken part in several television programs broadcasted on Arte, FR3, and on the radio.
He regularly performs in Europe as a concert artist: Paris, Bern, Basel, Freiburg, Stuttgart, Konstanz, Nuremberg, Munich, Bergamo, Strasbourg, Mulhouse, Colmar, Berfort… as a soloist, with the “Ensemble Arcadia”, the “Caractères et le Décapole Consort” (on period instruments), the “Dodeca” duo, the Fimbel/Membrado duo (2 guitars), the Atlantide Duo (cello and guitar), with soprano Claire Decaux, the Mulhouse Conservatory Symphonic Orchestra…
